A column of brass bells on a red cord, tassel below.
Bells are the simplest metal element object in feng shui. Hung at a door or a window, they move the air that has gone still and announce whoever comes in. Strung in a line on red cord, the one colour the tradition uses for luck and guarding, they are sold as the eight blessings (八福), the good things a household asks for over a year.
Hung beside a front door, at a shop entrance or from a car mirror, and a usual gift at Lunar New Year or for a new home.
Placement: inside the front door, or at a window that opens. Not over a bed.
