The bell and the dorje are one tool held in two hands.
In Tibetan practice the bell is held in the left hand and the dorje in the right, and they are not used apart: the dorje for method, the bell for the wisdom that gives method its purpose. Rung once, the bell marks the start and the end of a session and clears the air between. This one is cast brass, the handle a half vajra with five prongs closing over a small calm face, the skirt worked with a band of hanging garlands above a beaded rim. The dorje is the matching five-pronged vajra with lotus petals at its waist.
It suits a home altar, a yoga or meditation room that opens and closes with a sound, or a first set for someone beginning a practice.
