A dragon boat in green jade, sail set, rigging carved from the stone.
The four characters on the sail read 一帆风顺, one sail, a following wind: the phrase said to anyone setting out, on a journey, a business, a marriage. The dragon at the prow is the emperor's creature and the bringer of rain, so the boat carries both the wish and the guardian for it. In feng shui a ship is kept with its bow pointing into the room, arriving loaded, never heading for the door.
The rigging is a chain of jade links, each one cut free of the next by hand, which is where the carver's hours went. Bought for a new office, a first home, or a graduate about to leave.
Placement: a desk, sideboard or entry table, bow facing into the room and never toward the front door.
