Obsidian Wolf Fang Necklace

A wolf's fang carved in obsidian, a dragon's head cut into the root.

A wolf tooth has been worn in China for luck and protection since long before anyone carved one from stone, a hunter's token handed to children to keep them bold. This one keeps the curve of the real thing and adds a dragon's head at the thick end, jaws open where the tooth met the gum. Obsidian is volcanic glass with its own history as the guarding stone. The gold sheen variety throws a bronze flash across the surface when light catches it; the ice variety is clear enough to see through at the edges; the black is simply black.

Threaded on a braided cord with a small carved bead. Something for a first job, a move to a new city, or anyone who would sooner wear a tooth than a charm.
