Two deer folded into planes, one standing, one settled.
In Chinese the word for deer, lu, is spoken the same way as the word for an official's salary, so a deer in the house has long stood for income and rank. It is also the companion of the god of longevity, and a pair of deer is given for a long life shared. These two are made as a set, antlers up, with the creased surfaces of a paper model.
Often given at a wedding or a housewarming, or set on a bedroom dresser where a couple will see them each morning.
