Pixiu Coin Ring

A pixiu (貔貅) with red eyes, crouched on a band of old coins.

The pixiu draws wealth in and, with no way to let it out, keeps it, which is why it has been worn as a personal charm for centuries by people who earn their own money. The band under it is cast with a run of cash coins, the round coin with the square hole that was Chinese money for two thousand years, and with the six-syllable mantra in Tibetan script. Silver-tone throughout, or with the pixiu picked out in copper. It is worn head outward, toward the fingertip. The band opens at the back and adjusts across a wide range, which makes it a safe gift when you do not know the finger: a business partner, a brother, a son in his first year of trading.
