Prayer Wheel Mantra Ring

A ring with a prayer wheel on it, the barrel turning under the thumb.

The barrel is cut with Tibetan script, the six syllable mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, the same words carried on the hand held prayer wheels of Tibetan Buddhist practice. In that tradition a turn of the wheel counts the same as saying the mantra aloud, which is the point of putting one on a ring: it goes wherever the hand goes and turns whenever the thumb finds it. Either side of the barrel, the shoulders are worked with a stylised beast face in gold tone, set with small turquoise coloured and red beads.

The band is open at the back so it adjusts to the finger. Worn by someone who needs something to do with their hands, in a waiting room, on a long drive, or through a meeting that runs over.
