Cinnabar is the fire-red stone of the Chinese tradition, long worn to guard vitality and keep good fortune close. Its colour alone was considered protective, the red that meets whatever the day brings.

Om mani padme hum, the six character mantra, is the most recited phrase in Tibetan Buddhism, carved here in relief across the whole face of the stone. On a fine chain it wears like a piece of jewellery first and a blessing second.
