A small monk with a ringed staff, nodding along wherever the road goes.
The staff he carries is a khakkhara, the sounding staff of the travelling monk, its metal rings jangling to warn small creatures off the path and to announce a monk at the door. It is the oldest symbol of a journey made carefully. His other hand is raised in blessing, and the base under his feet reads 一路平安, safe the whole way, the phrase Chinese families say at the door to anyone setting out. A solar cell in the base sets him nodding and waving whenever daylight reaches the dashboard.
