Two small cymbals, struck edge to edge for one clear note.
Tingsha are the practice bells of Tibet, cast heavy for their size so the note rings on long after the strike. In a meditation they mark the beginning and the end. In the home they are walked from room to room and rung in the corners, to shift air that has gone still. The patterned pair carries the six-syllable mantra in Tibetan script around the dome; the plain pair is bare metal.
Rung before sitting, after an argument, or when moving into a room that still feels like someone else's.
