Two birds on a pine branch, framed in gold above a ribbed cream sphere.
The piece takes its name from an old saying, 良禽择木, a wise bird chooses its tree. It was first said of ministers deciding which lord to serve, and it is still quoted when someone weighs a job, a partner, or a place to settle. Here the two birds have made their choice, one at the top of the branch and one low beside the sphere, with the pine between them still green.
Chosen for an entry table or a study, and often given to someone starting a new post.
