Amitabha standing on a lotus, one hand lowered to receive.
Amitabha is the Buddha of the Western Pure Land, the one whose name is chanted in daily practice and called on at the end of a life. The lowered right hand is the gesture of welcome, the left holds a small gold orb at the chest, and the flame halo behind him, traced with a gold vine, is his light reaching outward. He is the Buddha of the household altar more than the temple, kept by families who want a figure to face each morning.
The frosted white body lets light through, so he reads best with a lamp or a window behind him.
Placement: on an altar or high shelf, above seated height, facing into the room. Not in a bedroom or bathroom.
